Lyon, lundi 29 août 2011 - A la question “Qu’avez-vous fait aujourd’hui ?”, Christiane commence ainsi : décharger les accessoires, les monter au deuxième étage puis deux étages plus haut (Atelier 4), demander les codes des portes, se faire expliquer les procédures, préparer la salle, poser un tapis et des pendrillons.
C’est la première journée de résidence aux Subsistances. Cinq jours de recherche avec une équipe réduite : Habibur, Giacinto, Fred, Burhan, Armand, Luca, Kaïna, Mbariki, demain Lénaelle puis Inouk en fin de période (un accordéoniste avec lequel nous continuons à faire des essais).
Ce qu’ils ont fait ce premier jour c’est de travailler sur le début de la folie, de façon physique. La salle est prévue pour l’entraînement de cirque, alors on peut grimper aux murs, s’accrocher les uns-aux-autres, être projeté sur le mur et s’enfuir par le haut.
L’Atelier 4 est un espace au noir profond, devant lequel la grande jupe qu’on recolle à Habibur se détache gracieusement. Bruno a ressorti d’anciens costumes faits avec de beaux tissus blancs qui ressortiraient probablement encore mieux avec un travail de lumière.
Nous continuerons dans les prochains jour à travailler des images en noir et en blanc, et cette verticalité que Christiane a en tête depuis juillet.

Lyon, August 29th 2011 - When asking “What have you done today ?”, Christiane starts answering this way : to unload accessories, bring them up the second floor then two more floors (Atelier 4), ask for door codes, have the procedures explained, prepare the room, set up carpets and curtains.
It has been the first day of residency at Les Subsistances. Five days of research with a reduced staff : Habibur, Giacinto, Fred, Burhan, Armand, Luca, Kaïna, Mbarik, tomorrow Lénaelle then Inouk at the end of the period (he is an accordionist we are making essays with).
What they did today this first day is to work on the beginning of craziness, in a very physical way. The room was made for circus training, so you can climb walls, hang on one another, be thrown on the wall and escape from the top.
Atelier 4 is a deep black space, to which we glue together the big skirt to Habibur stands gracefully. Bruno has emerged from ancient costumes made with fine white fabrics that stood out probably even better with a work light.
We will continue in the coming days to work in images in black and white, and this verticality as Christiane has in head since July.
